Requesting data from providers

Often the person with the easiest access to the required data is not directly involved in the carbon footprint project. You can request data from these "data providers" through the system.

In the Requests page, you can create data requests for any activity category and allow data providers to supply you with data without having access to the Carbon+Alt+Delete platform.

Creating data requests

The easiest way to set up requests for all your relevant activity categories is by creating these from your boundaries.

When using this feature, the system will automatically create requests for all possible combinations based on your organizational units and included activity categories.

You can of course add, edit, and delete requests as you see fit. To get the full details of each request, and to be able to send them, you need to expand the details pane.

In the data request details pane, you will see quite a lot of information:

  • Preview page: This allows you to preview what the data request page will look like for your data providers and test the flow.
  • Status: The status of the request. This can be manually adjusted but will auto-update to "Awaiting import" once a provider has uploaded data.
  • Reporting Period: What reporting period the request belongs to. You can adjust this but please note that it will be removed from the current reporting period.
  • Activity: The activity category the request is for.
  • Organizational Unit: What organizational unit this request belongs to.
  • Deadline: Deadline for the completion of the request. This is purely informational and will not be enforced by the system.
  • Data provider: This is where you add the emails of the providers you are requesting the data from.
  • Template type: The type of template that will be available for download when the provider accesses the data request link.
  • Template file: Auto-generated template file unless working with a custom template type.
  • Data Request Email: The system will automatically generate an email based on the rest of the details. This can be previewed and edited before sent.
