We're excited to offer the first version of our ESRS-E1 report tool. This initial release is an opportunity for you to start exploring and learning about sustainability reporting. Your feedback is vital, as it helps us improve and tailor our tool to better suit your needs.
This first version, presented in a user-friendly Word format (.docx), allows you to easily edit and add the information you need. It's designed to be a learning tool, helping you understand the reporting process while we gather all the essential details for the upcoming XBRL release. We're keeping a close eye on the developments from the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) and are preparing for the public consultation version of the XBRL.
At Carbon Alt Delete, we believe that the XBRL taxonomy will be key to integrating sustainability reporting into our app. The XBRL taxonomy is to file sustainability data like financial data and supported by XBRL international (for free) for maximal transparency, accuracy, (long-term) cost-efficiency and interoperatability. It is the first time that the format/taxonomy are obligatory for sustainability reporting in the EU (see voluntary character with NFRD). This integration aims to make the ESRS-E1 data collection process more consistent, transparent, and efficient. By using the Word format now, you can start to familiarize yourself with what will be required in the XBRL format.
Our current and planned features are designed to fully support the ESRS-E1 XBRL. By using this first version, you're not just preparing for future reporting requirements; you're also helping us create a tool that will make the reporting process simpler and more effective.
The ESRS-E1 download can be found at the Report - Create page and will be saved in the Report history, as the other reports. The information in the Disclosure will also be used in the ESRS-E1 download.
The ESRS-E1 download describes each of the Disclosure Requirements ("what to disclose") and provides a link to the Application Requirements ("how to disclose") (see example below). For E1-6 on the GHG emissions, some disclosures are populated based on your in-app information.
The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) recently approved an XBRL taxonomy for the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) on January 13. This taxonomy, commonly used in financial accounting, supports sector-specific tags and is compatible with various digital formats such as XML, JSON, and CSV. It aims to align sustainability reporting with financial reporting, in line with ESAP and EFEG standards. A public consultation for the draft ESRS XBRL taxonomy is upcoming, and it has been submitted to the EC and ESMA for further integration with financial reporting.
