Distance calculation

Our distance calculator can be used for transport activities you're assessing. This includes categories such as upstream and downstream transport and distribution, business travel, or employee commuting. The calculator applies to the formulas load.locations.count and locations.count.

Next, it maps your specified departure and arrival points to geographic coordinates using the AWS location service. This step involves entering detailed location descriptions or exact addresses into the system, which then translates them into precise geocodes (latitude and longitude).

Finally, the calculator determines the actual distance between these geocoded locations using a geodesic calculation. This calculation measures the shortest distance along the Earth's surface, accurately factoring in the Earth's curvature. The resulting distance is provided in kilometers, giving you precise measurements essential for your transport assessments
