Template field descriptions

Here you will find a brief explanation of each field as used in the import templates

Fields	Description	Activity categories
Description	Free text field to give a short description of the data entry.	All
Start date	Date when the activity related to the data entry took place. The date can be a year (in format "yyyy"), a month (in format "mm/yyyy"), or a day (in format "dd/mm/yyyy").	All
End date	Date when the activity related to the data entry ended. The date can be a year (in format "yyyy"), a month (in format "mm/yyyy"), or a day (in format "dd/mm/yyyy").	All
Organizational Unit	Part of the organizational structure to which the specific data entry belongs.	All
Keyword	Keyword names per activity type (see Boundaries - Emission factors for the dataset for each type). By_Mass: Item By_Value: Item Electricity: Country Fuels: Fuel Heat: Product Industrial emissions: Substance Transport: Vehicle Waste: Material	All

Factor Unit	The unit of the emission factor.	All
Volume	Numeric value of the activity data. This volume number will be multiplied with the emission factor number to calculate the corresponding carbon emissions. You only need to fill in the volume for the Single Value formula (= no formula terms).	All
Load	The amount of people travelled or freight was transported.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Unit (load)	The unit of the load.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Distance	Distance over which people travelled or freight was transported. The distance is assumed to be the single-way distance.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Unit (distance)	The unit of the distance.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Departure	Location of departure. This location could be a country, city or airport.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Arrival	Location of arrival. This location could be a country, city or airport.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Trip count	Number of journeys.	Upstream Transport, Business Travel, Commuting, Downstream Transport
Amount	Amount of the goods, services or assets that are consumed.	Capital Goods
Amortization period	The period over which you want to amortize the amount. The unit is always years.	Capital Goods
Traded From	In the context of intercompany trade, this is the part of the organizational structure from which the related good or service was acquired (i.e. the seller).	All
[Custom field]	Value for a custom field as defined in Company Settings. The name of the field should be given as the column header.	All
Notes	Free text field to add additional information to the data entry. The notes can be used to add assumptions, sources, comments, etc.	All
Validation check	Automated check that a correct combination of Keyword - Detail - Unit is being used. There is no need to import this column.	All
