Energy calculation for inventory exports

PreviousActivity specificNextElectricity and market vs. location-based emissions

Last updated 23 days ago

When downloading an inventory export, you will notice that kWh will often be filled out in the export in the column Energy [kWh] even if for instance the data was from a car using diesel as fuel and the volume input was in kilometres.

The information is pulled from the source in one of two different ways:

Example 1: If for a fuel the emission factor in CO2e/kWh is also available while you are using the factor CO2e/litres, then we will use the result in CO2e to back-calculate the kWh.

Example 2: Sometimes the source publishes additional information on energy use, such as the kWh per km driven.

You can see an example of this in the under the tab SECR kWh pass & delivery vehs.
