How To: Set up a simulation
Simulations are used to model the potential results of a mitigation plan. You can set up actions consisting of manipulations/calculations to be applied to the base data from a chosen reporting period.
Create a Simulation
Navigate to the Simulation view.
To begin setting up your simulation, select the expand icon.
In the Simulation detail pane, you can select the reporting period that you wish to use as the base data and how long you want the simulation to run for.
Add a Group
Select the plus icon in the simulation to add a group. Groups are used to collect similar actions, such as by scope or phase of the mitigation plan. If you have few actions or no need for grouping, you will still need to create a group and all actions to it. You can add up to 5 groups.
Add Actions
To add an action to the group, select the plus icon. A modal will open where you can select from a list of template actions that we have provided.
Select the template that is closest to the action you wish to model. Don’t worry if you can’t find a match, you’ll be able to fully edit the details of the action and manipulations, just select any option.
Edit Manipulations
You can edit the details of the action from within the template modal.
Once the action is created, you can edit the details by clicking the expand icon.
The first section defines the calculation to be applied to the inventory data.
To modal phased mitigation efforts, you can override the years that the manipulation will be in effect.
The second section defines which inventory entries will be "manipulated".
You can also add notes and attachments to each manipulation (and the simulation itself).
Add any further actions as needed.
View Results
Once you are satisfied with the Simulation Details, click the Run Simulation button.
Wait while the simulation completes and then click the View Graphs button.
The graphs display the effects of the actions. You can see the final emissions totals per year of the simulation, as well as the effects of each individual action.
The changes over time and per action are shown in grey above the bars.
