How to: use formula

We are excited to introduce the improvement on volume calculation formula options. You can now directly input the volume—without any calculation—for all activity categories using the single-value formula, both in the inventory and the import. This enhancement also resolves the challenge of using hotel stays in business travel, allowing you to simply enter the number of room nights as a single value (see below).
Furthermore, you can now select your preferred formula for volume calculation across upstream transport, employee commuting, business travel, downstream transport, and capital goods.
For formulas with more than one formula term, there is now a clear distinction between the Factor Unit (used for selecting the emission factor) and the Volume Unit (used for data entry). This update allows you to build your volume unit flexibly by combining it your preferred formula term units.
The volume unit can differ from the factor unit. For example, if the factor unit is pass.km, but the compounded volume unit for the load.location.count formula is kg.km, you will receive a warning prompting you to update one of the units. It’s important to note that while the warning appears, emissions are still calculated. The warning is simply a notification to help ensure consistency. These warnings are also displayed in the status overview for easier monitoring.
